The story meant to frame the philosophical ideas was pretty uneventful. The characters traveled across the country on motorcycles and the most exciting part was when they got steak at a diner. The philosophical musings were thought provoking, but were also written in a very dry and unexciting way.
Thinking, Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman

A great review of a range of relatively recent concepts in psychology. Its pretty interesting (and scary) how little control we have over our minds, despite our ignorant confidence in our ability to not to be swayed by environmental pressures. Reading Thinking, Fast and Slow covered an undergrad class amount of topics, including the battle between the instinctual and calculating minds, how the anchoring effect influences choice, cognitive biases and more. Check it out if you like to think about thinking.
